Carla Jane T. Jaspe
Discipline: Teacher Training
Abstract:
This qualitative study aimed to determine the experiences of teachers with non-teaching designations
providing ancillary services in the District of Barotac Viejo for the School Year 2023-2024. The research
method utilized in the study was qualitative using in-depth interview and the design was
phenomenology. The research instrument utilized in this study was a research-made interview schedule.
Audio and video recorders were utilized for data gathering and documentation. A thematic
approach was used to analyze the data gathered. It was found out that teachers encountered varied
experiences including stress, burnout, and job fatigue, unpreparedness and failure to deliver desired
competency, class interruption, and time-consuming. It was also found out that teachers encountered
challenges including stress, additional workload, and multitasking, lack of sleep, and beating deadlines.
It was also found out that teachers developed coping strategies to alleviate stress and pressure within
the field of work such as accepting challenges and becoming flexible, giving oneself a break, time
management, passion for teaching, and self-care. In order to consider the teachers’ situation of having
non-teaching designations, a resiliency program was recommended.
