Abstract:

The workplace holds the ability to significantly influence the morale, relationship, performance, and job satisfaction of employees. Therefore, it is vital that organizations prevent conflicts that could result in negative outcomes. This study used the Thomas Kilmann instrument to evaluate how non-academic employees managed conflict within the workplace in terms of collaborating, competing, avoiding, accommodating, and compromising. The study is characterized as descriptive in its approach, and its main tool for data gathering was an adopted questionnaire. The questionnaire was distributed to the statistical sample for this study consisting of 180 non-academic employees from the different administrative offices in a selected university. The present study adds to the existing literature on employee conflict handling modes by identifying the primary factors that influence effective conflict resolution. Based on the findings, it was determined that a significant proportion of the participants demonstrate a tendency to engage in compromise and collaboration with their coworkers when dealing with conflicts in the workplace. The study provided a proposed plan of action along with a set of recommendations designed for improving the conflict-handling modes of nonacademic employees in One Asian university.
